FISHING FROM ASH RIVER TRAIL

Slab Crappie

Fishing is the most popular pastime for summer guests visiting the Ash River Trail. There are five major lakes in the park, each with thousands of acres of clean, cool water. These scenic lakes are characterized by rugged shorelines with many calm bays, occasional sand beaches, rocky points, and pine-studded islands. There are NO MOTOR RESTRICTIONS for boaters, who can travel freely along remote, uncrowded and scenic, 50-mile-long system of lakes. Anglers fishing Voyageurs National Park will find walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, sturgeon, and crappie. Guides can be hired at any resort.
